July 4, 2023 (Ottawa, Ontario) – The Honourable Randy Boissonnault, Minister of Tourism and Associate Minister of Finance, today announced the Government of Canada’s new Federal Tourism Growth Strategy, highlighting key priorities and targets to enhance the visitor economy. Given the widespread labour challenges faced by tourism operators across the country, Tourism HR Canada is pleased to see the Strategy emphasize the importance of a robust workforce, with specific actions that seek to address skills and training, diversity and inclusion, infrastructure, and immigration.

Tourism HR Canada President and CEO Philip Mondor was among the invited tourism sector representatives at the announcement. The organization submitted a suite of workforce-related recommendations as part of the consultation phase of the Strategy’s development, from recruitment and retention to skills development to worker and learner mobility.
