TIANS has added our voice to a national effort calling on the federal government to extend the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) loan repayment deadline.
We are working on this critical issue with our partners from provincial tourism associations across the country, the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) and over 250 other tourism organizations, industry groups and chambers of commerce.
As part of this work, a national debt study (https://tiac-aitc.ca/…/2023-2366_TIAC-Phase-2-Populated…)
was completed, which confirms that tourism business activity across the country is not back to consistent levels and that operating expenses, including debt servicing costs, have increased dramatically.
You can help by sending your local MP a letter. It’s quick, it’s simple. All you need to do is enter your name, business address, and email address on the link below. The form auto-fills and will be sent automatically to your MP and will also be sent to the Minister of Finance, Tourism, and Small Business.
Our Tourism Industry has demonstrated a tremendous amount of resilience and strength over the past few years and this is a request to the government for more time, not more money.
Together, we can amplify the need for this extension, and make sure that that the Voice of Tourism is heard.
