Last week, the province announced an $18.2 million package to help boost tourism restart. The announcement included two new grant programs to support tourism operators. Applications are now open for the Tourism Accommodations Restart Customer Attraction Program and the Small Tourism Operator Restart Program.

Tourism Accommodations Restart Customer Attraction Program:
The Tourism Accommodations Restart Customer Attraction Program will help registered tourism accommodations attract overnight stays and bring tourism dollars to businesses across the province. Eligible operators will receive a grant of $1,000 per room for the first ten rooms and $500 per room for each additional room. Operators can design their own compelling offers and promotions that work best for them or enhance customer-focused amenities.

Details about the eligibility criteria and the online applications form are available at https://tourismns.ca/tarcap

The deadline to apply is July 23.

Small Tourism Operators Restart Program:
The Small Tourism Operators Restart Program provides a one-time grant of $5,000 to for smaller tourism businesses. This program is for businesses that were impacted by COVID-19 restrictions but were not eligible for recent provincial programs, such as Small Business Impact Grant 3 and Tourism Accommodations Real Property Tax Rebate. The funding can be used to aid in re-start activities, such as advertising or purchasing PPE and cleaning supplies.

Eligible businesses must be primarily engaged in one of the following business activities: tour operators, scenic and sightseeing transportation operators, outdoor adventure operators and outfitters, nature parks and zoos, amusement or theme parks, recreational vehicle parks and campgrounds, and travel agencies.
