HALIFAX, June 5, 2023 – In alignment with the Province of Nova Scotia’s announcement that the ban on woodland activities has been lifted, the closures effected last week at Parks Canada places on Mainland Nova Scotia have now been lifted.

Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site:

  • All trails have re-opened, including at Kejimkujik Seaside National Parks Canada
  • Backcountry camping has resumed. Existing reservations will continue as planned. Campers with reservations through Wednesday are being contacted directly by staff to confirm or modify their reservations. Other campers needing to modify reservations are asked to phone the Parks Canada Reservation Service at 1-877-737-3783.

York Redoubt National Historic Site

  • Site is re-opened

Melanson Settlement National Historic Site

  • Site is re-opened

A full fire ban continues to be in effect until further notice. No open fires are permitted. This includes campfires, charcoal barbecues, and any open flame (ie, candles). Propane/gas camp stoves, barbeques, fire pits and lanterns are permitted on campsites but should be used with caution.
